I tend to be fairly conservative and I say it's about freaking time they became a state. So I doubt, as well, that it is a partisan issue. At least I hope they don't make it so.

During their campaigns, both Obama and Romney stated that they would support Puerto Rican statehood, so I would agree that it isn't a partisan issue.

They get the social security benefits and limited medicare from what I read.
