Unbefrigginlievable. Truely, the conservative elite in this country have lost their minds. I'm not talking about all conservatives, most of whom are reasonable. But the rabid right-wing base of the GOP is just out of controll! What was Jeb thinking, he's supposed to be the smart one.

Too bad. A gestappo-esque move like that probably would finally have blasted the old school conservatives and libertarians loose from the neo-cons.

If it makes you feel any better, 2/3 of Floridians agree with you...

Actually, I think the paleo-cons are leading this charge, and the neos are just exploiting it for their own ends.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Fully 1/3rd of FL is okay with ignoring the rule of law when the government feels that it is inconvenient?
Of course, having lived in Miami for a time, I have reason to believe that this is the same 1/3rd that is currently driving on the streets in Miami.

Nah, they just represent the 30% of people who don't think, only feel. They live in the now and think with their guts.

There are times when the rule of law gets to be a pretty stupid thing, like patent laws getting in the way of people having access to AIDS drugs in Africa.
So it's conceivable that people who feel strongly enough about this case would think that the rule of law can go take a hike.
But yeah, it's a bleedin' circus.
EDIT: *looks below* Whoops. Ok, corrected.

That's patent laws, not copyright.

The people trying so desperately to keep Schiavo alive are the same people in favor of removing terminal patients from life support if they can’t pay the hospital bill, capping the awards in the type of civil suit that allowed this woman to be on life support all these years, and changing the bankruptcy laws to make it impossible for a family to ever recover from a medical emergency like this. You would have to be certifiable to actually believe all these things are good ideas at the same time.
I’m sure you have heard all this before. I just can’t make myself understand how anyone could support these yahoos.

There's a difference between someone who actually believes in all those causes on a moral level (I doubt there are many) and a politician who acts as if they do for political reasons.
