Yes, it seems we have finally found an enemy that has united our politicians across the spectrum, from Socialist to Republican, liberal to conservative. It's not Osama, it's Bud Selig!
Really, I have NEVER seen both sides of the aisle in Washington come together like they did to BASH Major League Baseball and steroid use. Usually a congressional witness will get a few friendly questions, but not today....man those baseball execs did not look happy.
Finally, we are united!

It's not hard to work up bipartisan support for blowing off work for a day.

Anyone else watch the hearings? Obviously not ALL of it, it went almost 12 hours. But the stuff I watched was AWESOME, I usually don't like politicians, but they LAID INTO these so called "professionals." And man, McGwire looked like a moron answering every question with "I'm not going to talk about the past." At least Canseco had the balls to answer the questions. I think he only dodged 10% of them. Palmeiro seemed pretty willing to answer, McGwire didn't cooperate a bit, and Schilling was one of the most artful dodgers I've ever seen.
But, like Jon Stewart pointed out, Chairman Davis said "we can convene about any matter at any time." So, with all the nonsense going on with Abu Ghraib, terrorism threats, yadda yadda yadda, they chose... baseball?
But I'm seriously all for it. Clean up the damn sport, this "national pasttime's" image has been thoroughly tarnished. I can't take the home run records seriously.
