Hey folks,

I'm new here, and you haven't seen any of my politicing in action yet... but I just got the news so I had to share.

Just got my formal letter of acceptance into George Washington University's Elliott School of International affairs, Masters in Public Policy. I'm soooo psyched right now. 1800 applicants, 285 selected. Anyways, I am really looking forward to being able to hone my debate skills there, and to learn new things about international politics.

Anyways just wanted to say hi... and maybe brag just a *little* bit :)

So long as it's just a little bit, mind. Give 'em heck; they can use it.

Ethel can brag as much as he wants... once he's made good on his promise of buying me a drink.

I need to buy a vowel.

So it's to do with politics, and it's hard to get into... what does it do?

I mean, perhaps I should ask what do you want to be when you grow up, so to speak, and how this thingy helps you do it?

Thyla: You really must have miss-heard me, I sincerely remember saying that I would have "brought" you a drink ;)

Anyways, as for what all the fancy words mean: the degree is a combination of economics, political science, and how technology/communications interact with both. People who have graduated from this particular program have gone on to work for the UN, the IMF, the World Bank, the US State Dept., and in a ton of foreign countries to act as a facilitator of technology infrastructure upgrades in countries that aren't quite so "wired" (or was that wierd?) yet.

Anyways the name of the game while in the beltway for me will be learn as much as I can in 2 years and get out with my soul intact. I am probably eventually going to either end up working for a non-profit progressive group, or perhaps even continue to teach. That's remotely possible... I think :)
