I don't know what else to say. We knew it was coming, but... The world is a substantially less amazing place today. I just... *sigh*

Seconded. I came back here tonight, because I knew people around here would be mourning...

Mr. Pratchett's death hit me far harder then Mr. Nimoy's, which is strange, because I've only ever read one of his books.

Funny.

I am sad. I don't normally get affected by celebrity deaths, but Pratchett wasn't just an author I liked. I read so much Pratchett during my teens that it would not be much of an exaggeration to say that Discworld was the basis for my entire worldview and moral philosophy, such as it is. Terry Pratchett made fun of humanity's foolishness, but he never gave up on people. It sounds strange to say this about a comedy writer, but I'm grateful for his wisdom, and disappointed to see him gone so soon. At least he isn't suffering anymore.

And in the dark he heard a voice.
THIS WAY, MY LORD. THE DISC IS WAITING.

RIP Sir Terry.

Nice to see Pete's put the X-Clacks-Overhead "GNU Terry Pratchett" header on sluggy.com.
