It can be a bit hard to find the RP on the RP servers, but it's there in some places. The best way to find it is to join a guild, especially one geared towards RP.

Admitably, you won't see that much RPing on the channel chats, but some people do (and some people berate other that do or don't, too) and it can be found.

Sign up on Feathermoon and I'll hook you up. I'm member in both Horde and Alliance RP guilds. ;)

Has anyone played with CosmosUIyet? My guildmates have started using it recently. I'm thinking about downloading it tonight.

Thanks for the offer, FB, but I doubt I'll join any guilds, especially since I'll likely be no longer playing consistently when my month's up. I'll just go back to buying a month every now and again, when I have the time and the money, like I do with City of Heroes.

Yep, I use it regularly. As a mage with quite a few spells, as well as gadgets, healing potions, and devices I want to use, I find one action bar insufficient, so the added collapsible action bar at the lower right of the screen provides an extra two useful rows. I use the latest Alpha build. It also speeds up looting by closing the loot window if there's nothing to get, and moving it so the first item is under your mouse pointer. Things like that. There's the occasional glitch and error message, but it keeps working fine.

re: Cosmos

I couldn't live without it anymore. On top of the extra bars, you don't see level ?? when a player/monster is too high level, it displays the current buffs on your weapons, and one of my fav features, world map coordinates and the ability to place and share map pins on the world map with others.

On top of those, there's a whole slew of other great things for specific classes which can be quite helpful too.

Of course, there's that warning up now that says that if anyone is found to be using third party software that changes the intended design of WoW, they can be permanently banned. Now while this is most likely to prevent hacks that allow people to move faster, hit harder, yada yada yada, you never know if they might construe a better UI as a hack, right?

I'd be careful, that's all.

If I remember correctly, they actually endorse using UI "hacks."

Ayup, CosmosUI has carried the WoW stamp of approval for some time.

What they are trying to discourage are things like speed hacks, etc. Using a UI mod isn't considered cheating because it simply organizes information that the game makes available to all. Using a speed hack or some such *is* cheating because it involves sniffing and modifying data that is *not* freely available to all.

(When I say available to all, what I mean is data the game makers provide access to in order for people to create UI mods. More information about this in their API.)

Level 60 Night Elf Druid on Garona-Tigris
Level 12 Night Elf Priest on Scarlet Crusade-Tigris
And a few scattered alts around.

Cosmos is invaluable for healing classes, being able to use multiple ranks of the same spell to defer aggro is necessary for druids at higher levels. ^-^

I'm not picking the game up after my month is out. After installation issues...and now having to deal with crashes every 10 minutes due to bad patches and MPQ files...it's just not worth the frustration. Sure, my computer sucks...I know that. But City of Heroes runs without crashing. So, I guess WoW will wait until summer, when I get my new laptop.

Ah, poor Akiz. My hunter...

I don't quite follow how it's supposed to be a cheat/crutch. I dislike having to open the spellbook/abilities page and go to the correct subsection and open that to get my character to cast/do something that doesn't fit on my normal 1-12 bar. I like having multiple toolbars - I don't like repetitive stress injury.

Good news for you ;) Blizz is adding the ability to have up to 4 more bars! Woohoo!

(p.s. Did you also know that pressing shift+1 thru 6 will bring up another tool bar? I have shift+1 set for burny spells, shift+2 set for abilities, shift+3 set for ice/arcane spells and shift+4 for my professions)

...ya know, knowing the shortcuts for going to those toolbars instead of pressing those up and down arrows is probably a good thing. Darn. Wish I had thought of it.

I've got the most boring guild...nobody is ever online...except for one person who is online ALL the time. Man I need to find a new guild. And try not to leave myself flagged for PvP combat while inside Booty Bay...
