What has sluggy.net recommended to you that you've liked?
It's been a little while since I've run one of these, and I've followed up on a lot of local suggestions in the past year. These were all more-or-less winners for me:
Recent Suggestions MUSIC (bought these on iTunes and they all went into heavy rotation) Apocalyptica - Nothing Else Matters Aeryon - Day Eleven Van Canto - Last Night of the Kings
YOU TUBE The Piano Guys channel
BOOKS (Haven't been tempted yet to follow up on any of the sequels, but enjoyed each as a good read) Jim Butcher - Dresden Files (Book I) and Codex Alera (Book I) Night Watch
Going further back in time:
BOOKS: Heros Die - Matthew Stover
COMICS Erfworld - although I quit following it again.
GAMES Kingdom of Loathing - wasted way too much time on this.
Way Way Back
I think I discovered YATTA and Homestar Runner from the early days of WOH-PAH. Also Eyezmaze:Grow

Had you read other Discworld books or was Night Watch your first? Granted, I've only read a handful of them but I (personally) wouldn't recommend starting with Night Watch... And for my entry: Guilded Age. A while back someone in SRC started a thread about this comic because former Sluggy guest artist Erica Henderson was doing the art for it. (It's written by T. Campbell [whom I am vaguely familiar with] and Phil Kahn [Whom I'd never heard of]. Henderson is no longer doing the art, but the writing is excellent! (Each page has title text, as a heads up.) The other comics I read (besides xkcd) were *technically* recommended to me by a sluggite but after said sluggite stopped visiting these forums on a regular basis, so I don't know if they count!

Not sure if kitoba is talking about Night Watch the Discworld book, or The Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko.

The Nightwatch, the Russian book. I was a huge Discworld fan back in the day, but I dropped off years ago. There are something like 100 of those books, and my favorites were the early ones.

A while back, somebody was recommending Star Trek Online. (I believe it was Skitz.) Well, I just made vice admiral today, the highest level currently available. Yay! Since there are some other STO folks here, I thought I'd share a few pics (click to zoom): My bridge crew, in the order I recruited them. I wasn't originally intending on having all bridge bunnies, but after the first three that had the specs I wanted were all female, I just went with it. From left to right: - My character, Vice Admiral Tas Narid, Betazoid science officer
- Commander Tallasa, Andorian tactical officer
- Commander Zenori, Trill science officer
- Commander Yacloe, Trill engineering officer
- Commander Funeam, alien science officer
- Commander Elizabeth Natalia Lomonaco, human engineering officer
- Commander Sydra Gluf, Betazoid tactical officer
My character at Earth Spacedock, with Earth and the moon in the background. On the floor is my Horta pet. My ship, U.S.S. Valladolid-D (NCC-112358-D), deep space science vessel

Yes; it's the general term for species that are more customizable in appearance rather than following the template of an established species in the canon. I designed her as human anyway, simply because I wanted to, but she's technically alien because a selection of bridge officers is offered to you during your natural progression in the game with gender and species already defined. These don't cost you any in-game currency to obtain; you get them naturally as you level up. If you want to spend something, you can requisition officers of whatever species you like. Some of these (such as liberated Borg characters) can only be obtained with ZEN, which is purchased with real money, but there is a pretty wide variety obtainable using energy credits, which you get for completing missions and selling or recycling items you don't need.
