I recently heard about casu marzu. I feel the need to share this with people.
Despite being a turophiliac, this is one cheese I definitely will not touch, not even with a ten-foot pole, let alone think about eating.

First reaction: Oh my God that's nasty.
Second reaction: This sounds like a an urban legend (or possibly an Internet prank).
A bit of Googling later, I did find one site claiming it is, in fact, an urban legend. Several other sites, though, including Wikipedia, seem to say it's geniune. (although Wiki gives it a different name).
I'll file it under 'maybe.'

That's not nice at all. But I like how the quote at the end sums it up:
"OK, some people like it. But some people practice cannibalism, too."

That is not an urban legend, I swear I saw somebody eat it on television. On a cooking show about Italian food.

Not overly surprising... I've heard cases in France of people picking maggots out of over-ripe brie before eating it...
Maybe it's just me, but this really didn't turn my stomach in the way I was expecting...

Compared to the things you regularly see people scarfing down on Fear Factor, this isn't that gross. At least maggots don't bite you.

I've heard of this before, but for some reason thought the cheese was from central Europe. I guess you'd have to attribute it's origin to Europe's glorious history of seige warfare.

Err, okay. I can see why this stuff is not considered fit for human consumption by the authorities.
I generally like to keep an open mind about food, and who knows, maybe the stuff is lovely, but I must confess that the idea of something alive and moving in my mouth is one of the few things that I find utterly repulsive.

I didn't really find this overly gross, either. I wouldn't eat the stuff myself, but... I mean... I'm taking a university level art history class called Shocking Artists, Shocking Art. If I got grossed out by stuff like this, the stuff in that class would probably cause me to spontaneously combust... and then implode.
I'd give examples... but community standards and all that...

Slimey, yet... satisfying.
Having gotten that out of the way, I can now properly say: Ew.
