This totally rocked my socks; the first one was alright, but this one really makes me shiver with anticipation.
I've heard they cut the whole 'SPEW' thing out of the storyline. Also, I'm wondering how they will handle the Percy situation since he's not in the film. It's suspected he'll be in OotP, where he has a similar role of opposition, but they need to lead up to it somehow in GoF I would think.
Any thoughts or comments on the upcoming flick?

You know, I'd be veeeery careful before cutting out something like SPEW. Rowling has shown herself to be very much like Pete in that she brings up old dead plot stuff and uses it in major turns. SPEW struck me as important when she mentioned it in another book. I have a feeling it's going to come up later and be important, and the movie people are going to feel stupid if they cut it.

No, SPEW is out. They cleared it with J.K. for reasons of time. There were early threats of making this a double-movie, with a delay of 2 months or so between them.
I think this'll be the best, and darkest, one yet. The Quidditch Cup alone will be worth the outrageous theatre prices.

Krum is supposed to be clumsy and awkward on the ground.
Someone needs to teach Ron a facial expression that's not stupid-fear.
Dumbledore didn't shout "Harry Potter". He SAID it.
The dark creatures look funtastic, though.
I'm not looking forward to how they portray Moody.

ooh, that looks good.
Krum and Cedric don't look at all like how I imagined them. But Harry, Hermione and Ron didn't look much like how I imagine them either. Mad-eye looks just weird. The way Sirius' head was in the fire was just... wrong.
But the Beauxbatons' entrance with the carriage and all, and the dragons... so shiny.
Ron dancing with McGonagall!
I'll miss SPEW. I think it's pretty important for Hermione, and it's just so amusing. But they do have to cut things out. And they aren't cutting anything without JKR's permission, she reads the scripts. She's told them before that certain things are important, and certain things shouldn't be messed with. She never says why, but she makes sure nothing goes too far off the track.

From the looks of things...the atmosphere set by the movie, and the settings themselves (the arena on the mountain, the terraces built on the sea)...all of these look great. The dragon shown seems to be very well rendered.
This will deffinately have some good eye-candy for the viewer!

The dragons are actually real; I mean, obviously there is CG involved, but I watched a special on the robotics involved in the dragons. Should be very interesting; I believe Buckbeak was 100% CGI with a green screen, and the general process is 'the more real stuff in a CG-based scene, the better it comes out', so I'm expecting a lot out of the dragon fight.
Cedric looks exactly like I pictured him (it was scary when I saw him, I went 'WOW'), Krum is close. Kakaroff is wierd with the big beard, I pictured it more close-cropped, but it still works for me.

The look of Moody is really annoying me. I've always imagined him looking much less human, and especially much less comical. He had a crazy *eye* not a friggin' eyepatch. September 19th was yesterday.
Krum wasn't too far off, expect my him is much hairier- think thick monobrow and scruffy beard.
Actually, now I think about it, my picture of Cedric was exactly what Krum ended up looking like in the film. Weird.
And... Oh yes, the film is coming out on my birthday. Hell yeah.

Agree on Moody. I'd always pictured him as much, much thinner - Cassius' lean and hungry look. He should look like he's lived the last twenty years of his life ready to spin around and zap someone; full of nervous energy and paranoia.
And yes, no eyepatch.
The direction looks like a mix of Columbus and Cuarón, so I'll reserve judgement. But I was very disappointed when I heard Cuarón was not directing this one. What he did with Azkaban was nothing short of magic.

I really didn't like the Azkaban movie. I didn't think Cuaron had a feel for the world and characters at all, myself, and was glad he wasn't coming back.
As for the looks of characters, almost none of the actors in the whole series look like I imagined the characters, except for Harry himself. Emma Watson doesn't look at all like I imagine Hermione, nor Rupert Grint like Ron. So, this is just par for the course. I forgive that if the portrayals are right; most of them are. We shall see.

Cuaron did some alterations, but I was fine with it because he got the LOOK of the world and the story much better than Columbus.
In terms of Batman, Columbus was like Schumaker, and Cuaron was like Nolan. It remains to see if Harry Potter will have its Burton.

I want Burton to do a Harry Potter.

What? You know it'd be special.
