SO what are all you sluggites doing for international talk like a pirate day? I'm hoping to find a pirate hat, and go to school talking like a pirate all day. Should make all my classes interesting to say the least.

I should find a minigolf place. Last time I played minigolf, it was me, TC1, and two of our friends at a pirate-themed course.
We all kept getting "Parrr!"

Well I've already got a parrot. I'll just have to get him to stand on my shoulder so that when he viciously attacks my earlobes, I can yell "Yarrr!" instead of "Aaaarrgh!"

I have a piratey pouch I'm wearing on my hip tomorrow, and I'm thinking of making a quick pirate outfit, though that's still up in the air as I'll be on campus for quite a while. Maybe I'll wear it to sociology, then rush home to change, I've got time...

I'm just going to remind everybody and say 'Arr!' a lot.
Thank (Insert diety here) for Dave Barry.

On Gaia, I will dress my avatar in her pirate costume. The Ferret of the High Seas.
In real life, I will try my darnedest to find some kind of piratey thing to wear... hey, where's that website with the Talk Like A Pirate stuff on it?

There's one on a pier on the Hudson; a few blocks north of Chambers Street.

Do you mean http://www.talklikeapirate.com/? Or were you thinking of something else?
I intend to commemorate talk like a pirate day by talking like a pirate.

I just don't think that any real pirate in the world has ever said 'Arr'. And summarily, I wish people would be creative in their pirate talking instead of just throwing in the word 'arr' every other sentence.
Maybe I'll just talk in leet in 'Talk like a pirate day'. That's how modern-day pirates talk.

BobTheSpirit wrote: And summarily, I wish people would be creative in their pirate talking instead of just throwing in the word 'arr' every other sentence. Part of the trouble is that a not-quite-Cornish accent is very difficult to express when writin'. So ye mostly have to resort to usin' piratical clichés. And while there be a few other such expressions avalable, few are so readily recognisable as a hearty 'arr'. BobTheSpirit wrote: Maybe I'll just talk in leet in 'Talk like a pirate day'. If I caught any o' me crew usin' 1337 on my vessel, I'd keelhaul 'im before ye could say 'Jack Robinson'!
Avast behind!

How does one talk in leet, pray tell? I thought leet was all about creative bad spelling. I guess you could throw around a whole bunch of gamer expressions, but that doesn't automatically make it leet.

Well, nobody I talk to in real life and not via typing is going to be talking like a pirate anyway, so the point is moot. :)

Not too early, technically it is talk like a pirate day over here (10:40am).
But I don't do bandwagons.
