That's funny, I always thought Thyla WAS the Sluggy ISP... :sam:

We know she wrote the code for the site, but even the all powerfull sluggy doesn't have it's own ISP. Question is what ISP are they using?

Honestly, one of the best decisions a business can make is to host their servers offsite at a good data center. That's what we do. Unfortunately, when that data center has new trainees... *wince*

I just have this mental picture now of the Random Fan cowering in shame and fear.. :) You were venting a bit, Thyla - but I can't say I blame you either.

Do you know who the Random Fan is? Can we have the IP address? :bunbun:

I think you'll likely be able to find a Sluggy fan at 127.0.0.1. I know that address seems to follow me around everywhere... or, if you prefer (and have a multicast-capable machine) on 224.0.0.1 (which will reach all multicast-capable hosts in your current local network, presumably including yours).

If you're looking for someone specific (other than yourself), then perhaps the above two addresses are not such a good idea...

Yes, we know who he is, we have his name, his email address, as well as his geographical location. I have emailed him already, and will hold off on making the decision on releasing any information about him until we hear back from him.

At best, let us just say that naming him publicly would completely discredit him on all the Linux mailing lists he hangs out on :).

I don't think you were ranting, Thyla. Everything you said seemed calm and collected.

I know if it were me I'd show him what a true DoS is.. But I'm just mean.

Thyla's job has all my sympathies in the world on this one. ISP wrangling is sorta like dealing with an angry pit viper who has a bad fang ache. You're my hero :)

To top it off, whoever this disgruntled fan is... it's a freakin web comic... what, he go cry to his 50 cats that Torg and Zoe never got together? Sheesh. lol.

Let me know who he is. I run networks for a living. I'll go visit him and give him some personal lessons. I'll show him new tricks with cabling and a server that will keep him ... occupied for a while and won't have time to complain to any ISP. His chiropractor on the other hand ... :gwynn:

Wow, you mean that people who use Linux aren't all super-geniuses? My world is shattered!

You should totally blackmail that guy. "If you don't want to get 100,000 emails telling you how dumb you are, you'd better set up a new Sluggy stats page and comic search feature, quickly."
