I would consider myself a Middler, not an Old Skooler, but my date probably doesn't bear that out. Part of me identifying with the Middlers is because my first name is Bette*, and the other part is that when I got here there were a number of people up at a thousand posts or so--really really Old Skool, and I never felt I was part of that crowd. I suppose in the intervening years I've gained some sort of seniority... But I'm babbling like an old man. So now I will shut up. Except for the footnote.
* Yep, the pun demon still works. :D

Hrm, given that I was here from the very first forums sluggy ever had (and helped pick that software and set them up and run them, way way back when), and then set up the phpBB forums, and then set them up again, and again, and again... I wonder what category that kind of staying power puts me in... ;)

We've been around long enough to be well-established, not like those N00bs, but we're not old, crusty and set in our ways like the Old Skoolers.
Woo Middle Pride! And yay for subsilver! I wonder if I will be able to stay logged in for more then a few minutes now...

You are Thyla of Sluggy.net
Praise Thyla from whom all things flow
Vartinits, and Gimilets, and Rumrunners, and Vodka shooters, and Jello shots, and everynow and then a Coke. And all that sluggy.net stuff you do too.
Praise Thyla from whom all things flow
Now hopefully when I go to that rehersal tomorrow I won't burst into flames when I enter the church.

Well, I don't remember seeing your name on the Mailing List, so you get to sit in the young'un's camp with everyone else. ;)

What am I? I am in the same positionas MP really. Not old enough to be middle, but well enough established that I can't possibly be a newb. I think I'll head for the middle table.

Hmm... I remember the hierarchical boards (though I used a different user name on them). How old does that make me?

I think I might have posted on the mailing list from time to time, but generally didn't live on it, given that we weren't running it ;) (The same goes for the newsgroup.)

Hey, back on my Mailing List, there was Plan 9 David and Shirt Guy Tom. Sluggy was only a year old; I don't think Pete's team was much bigger than that anyway!

*nods* Yeah, back in the mailing list days, I wasn't officially working for sluggy at the time. I think this was back when I was working for UserFriendly...

I still have some of my notes from the Mailing List. We were pretentious snobs, with a "Core List Members List" that I started mostly so new folks would recognise the regulars (and maybe be a bit less insulting when said regulars tried to sound "Official"). I'll post the list below: Please note, I'm only on the list because the ML insisted! I would have prefered to have remained off, since, after all, I was maintaining the list.
Old Sluggy Mailing List wrote: Drea : First member, mistress of thwarting, eternal nemesis of the fat-bottomed penguin
Paul : aka Freaky Boy, founder, sidekick, and misplacer of names beginning with "B"
Dave : Provider of Sluggy on dead trees, Debate Master #1
Katharine : Baker of cakes, destroyer of worlds
Karen : aka the Dread Suhaka, mistress of mayhem, friend of all virtual ducks
Terry : Keeper of the car keys, Debate Master #2
Tom : Maker of the nifty shirts, liason to his Niftyness
Jeffry : Underground member, White Wolf poster child
Barb : hereto known as Beth and any other B-name with four letters, synopsizer
zacman: Ziggy, man of amusing .sigs
Robin: Queen of something new every post, she of the raven hair, nemisis of Super Goth
Eviliza: who is evil, nemisis and foil of Freaky Boy
*sniff* I miss those folks. ( And, no, you will never convince me that Terry and David should have been Master Debaters. :p )

No watch, but I've got a copy of Sluggy #1, first printing, in pretty good condition!

How did you avoid breaking the spine and having the cover fall off?
(oh man, Dave's so going to spank me for this)
