Obligatory Sluggy link. I haven't used Dragon myself, but I'm told it works reasonably well - for a single user. Just watch out for sentences that sound almost the same; there's a big difference, to take one example, between being "...in favour of the party" and being "...in favour of Apartheid". Of course, it really helps if you have the accent that the people who wrote the program assumed you'd have; accents far enough from their expected norm may require more time spent teaching the system your voice.

This isn't so much a question as an observation, but I live in Colorado and I'm undergoing a physical training regime that involves running 1.5 miles. Being in late October and at a high altitude the air is always dry and cold, which starts to really irritate my windpipe when I get to the one-mile mark. What I've noticed is that when chewing gum -specifically 5 Gum- the dry air doesn't affect me as much, does anyone know why this might be?

My I-am-not-a-doctor guess would be that the gum-chewing stimulates your mouth to produce additional saliva, which you then swallow, alleviating the dryness in your throat which normally causes the irritation.

My I-prepared-to-go-to-medical-school-but-went-to-law-school-instead opinion is that inspiration is absolutely right.

Wow those guys use big words. Being less technical, chewing makes more spit.

Ok got another one, I recently changed around my icons on my Mac (OS X Leopard) and noticed a weird phenomenon. With my Thunderbird app, the icon only remains as the one I set it to when there are no new messages. When I get mail it changes rather jarringly to the default icon. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Attached ref photos: Without any new messages (the way I want it to stay) When it receives messages (the way I don't want it)

There may be something in Thunderbird's settings to stop it from notifying that you have new messages via the program icon, which would probably fix that. If not, I'm not sure, and I'm not familiar enough with Macs to be able to suggest more than that.

Nevermind, found out how to do it. Went into the app's resources folder and changed the .icns file.

I'm hoping this is a simple answer!
I'm doing a freelance editing project for a large (and massively error riddled) Word file. I'm using Word 2007. Find and Replace has stopped working. I can hit "Find" and it will find things but when I switch over and hit "Replace," it says no instances were found. It appears to be working normally in other documents.
Any ideas on why this would be happening?

Yeah, same here. In fact, for actually writing (as opposed to being able to read others Office files) I will install LaTeX on a Windows machine in preference to using MS Office.

I'd do the same thing with OpenOffice, which is basically the same thing as Microsoft Office only far less buggy.

In terms of a real answer, if you can get your hands on a 2003 version, there is a Compatibility Pack out to let you work with 2007 documents.

Anyone here familiar with internet radio streaming. I was considering starting my own internet radio channel. I want to do local event, high school sports and the like.
