I thought I would take advantage of this required demonstration of my corporeality to ask a strange question.
Is there a way for Defenders to turn ads back on? No, not a fan of ads or any other type of lunatic, but this is not a website that bombards you with annoying popups and auto-play videos, etc. etc. etc. So, I really don't mind the little banner ads at the top. I didn't join to get rid of the ads, I joined out of guilt for mooching for years on this site.
If it provides even a tiny amount of additional revenue, then I ham happy to endure them. Just a Thought I had when signing up.
P.S. No statement above about online advertisements should be construed in any way to apply to, endorse or even tolerate telemarketers. So, please, please, PLEASE don't sic Bun-bun on me.

Welcome to the forum tmccawley!
Wait a minute...
You want to see the ads. Seems awfully suspicious. Hmm....
Well, I thought there was a check box where you could see the ads or not, but I'm not currently a Defender, so I can't check. Maybe someone else might see this and help you out.
Anyway [member's name here], now I will tell you about the strange tradition aimed at newcomers.
At one time there were Pesterers who pestered you for poetry, but that tends to be very rare nowadays. Even though you may not be pestered, if you do go and post an original poem --usually haiku but any (clean) type is accepted-- written by you, you will most likely receive a gift in return. The "gift" will most likely be useless or maim you. Whichever it may be, it should be interesting and surprising. Lastly, this strange tradition applies to the pestering not the poetry. You are not required to do anything more to be a member here...unless you want to possibly get a [name of harmlessly fatal item here] or some other type of gift.
Now go forth and do (almost) whatever you want, just don't speculate in Reactions.
