Hi everyone!

I've discovered Sluggy only a couple weeks ago, with Chapter 63, that I stumbled upon at the random.
And after looking where this came from, and losing something like 4 hours to this, I figured I should read more and follow what's new. I still haven't reached what's being published now, buuuuut it won't be long now before I run out of Sluggy and start screaming for more!

Kudos to Pete Abrams for this masterpiece, and for the sheer talent, imagination and willpower it takes to develop the same comic since 1997 and to keep it great all along a timeframe that's over two decades.

Welcome to the forum Tanker_5455!

It pulled me in as well back in...2005 I think. Of course, back then the layout was different and took longer to read through the archives. Having dial-up at the time probably didn't help either.

You may not know this, but the entire site was redesigned and (almost) all of the strips were increased from 750 to 900 pixels wide, about a year and a half ago. Binging the archive is a bit easier now with all of the strips for a chapter on one page. Each strip was on its own page before. Also the Defender of the Nifty pay structure was radically changed. I still don't really agree a with how it works now, but it appears to work for Pete. It does allow him to be less stressed now.

Anyway [member's name here], now I will tell you about the strange tradition aimed at newcomers.

At one time there were Pesterers who pestered you for poetry, but that tends to be very rare nowadays. Even though you may not be pestered, if you do go and post an original poem --usually haiku but any (clean) type is accepted-- written by you, you will most likely receive a gift in return. The "gift" will most likely be useless or maim you. Whichever it may be, it should be interesting and surprising. Lastly, this strange tradition applies to the pestering not the poetry. You are not required to do anything more to be a member here...unless you want to possibly get a [name of harmlessly fatal item here] or some other type of gift.

Now go forth and do (almost) whatever you want, just don't speculate in Reactions.

Yeah, what he said. Oh, and *PESTER* for Old Time's sake.

Yeah, I can definitely imagine that it has gotten better over the years, I don't see how a site with so much content could exist with 1997 tech, not to mention that it would conflict with most modern browsers - and that's without talking about mobile phone browsers.

And I'll abstain from writing some poetry, my rhymes are the most dangerous weapon we could discuss in there, you could lose all hope for manking and all of your taste for beauty upon encountering them!

As an alternative, I'd accept a short essay on whether humanity has hope for the future. I can see you already have one argument setup for the con side. And hey! That's half way towards the first figure of section 1.a, book one, of a seven book anthology!

I can't wait for lucky number 3.
