If you want a description of me, a person once came up to me saying that they had been told to look for a six foot nerd with glasses and I seemed to be the best fit in the room. (This really happened.) I live near Philadelphia, PA, USA and have a degree in Chemical Engineer with a few decades experience in computer programming.

I decided to ask for posting privileges so that I could mention the short story Little Lost Robot by Isaac Asimov https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Lost_Robot. It appears to be relevant to the Kusari discussion since it explains how a robot with a weakened first law can kill a human being without violating the rules. It is very similar to some of the discussions currently on the forum.

Welcome to the forum Naldru!

Well they were probably right since a glasses wearing nerd with six feet would more than likely "stand out" in a crowd. Or by themselves for that matter.

Kusari is most definitely interpreting things differently than intended. But still within her restrictions.

Anyway [member's name here], now I will tell you about the strange tradition aimed at newcomers.

At one time there were Pesterers who pestered you for poetry, but that tends to be very rare nowadays. Even though you may not be pestered, if you do go and post an original poem --usually haiku but any (clean) type is accepted-- written by you, you will most likely receive a gift in return. The "gift" will most likely be useless or maim you. Whichever it may be, it should be interesting and surprising. Lastly, this strange tradition applies to the pestering not the poetry. You are not required to do anything more to be a member here...unless you want to possibly get a [name of harmlessly fatal item here] or some other type of gift.

Now go forth and do (almost) whatever you want, just don't speculate in Reactions.
