Wow, isn't the new site great?

I've been following sluggy for not quite the full 20 years, I think I came across it around autumn of '97, it was funny and I dipped in and out for a few years before I realised exactly how good a storyteller Pete was and how much was going on that we didn't know.

I first signed up as a Defender a few years back, but never signed up for the forums. I'm pleased to be able to sign up again, and as it's all one place now, I figured I better post a hello!

Come for the funnies. Stay for the story. Yes. Yes, it is Nifty, very nifty!

Dave

Welcome to the forum smallbluesphere!

Unless you personally knew Pete and he bugged you to read it, I don't think anybody could say they have read it for the full 20 years. But you are awfully darn close.

Yeah, even with those early strips you could tell there was more going on than what was being shown. It may not have been nearly as in depth as it has become, but it was there.

Yes, it is very nifty indeed.

Anyway, you may be here to post in the forum or you were confused and thought you needed to be a Full Member to participate in non-forum things. You don't actually. Whichever it was, means you can post in the forum whenever the urge hits you, if you want. Now I will tell you about the strange tradition aimed at newcomers.

At one time there were Pesterers who pestered you for poetry, but that tends to be very rare nowadays. Even though you may not be pestered, if you do go and post an original poem--usually haiku but any (clean) type is accepted--written by you, you will most likely receive a gift in return. The "gift" will most likely be useless or maim you...a little. Whichever it may be, it should be interesting and surprising. Lastly, this strange tradition applies to the pestering not the poetry. You are not required to do anything more to be a member here...unless you want a gift.

Now go forth and do (almost) whatever you want, just don't speculate in Reactions.
