Friday is too spooked by what yesterday said was coming, so it's going to hide in a box until the end of the month. It's the perfect size too. Just my size with a nice comfy bed inside and a nice easy to open hinged box top to keep all of the horrors out.

*Exhale*

Oh yeah. That was good.

Ok, now that's a clever little bait and switch, making us think Riff will die, but the AI is still targetting Schlock.

And the guy who has been the main villain of our story for quite a few years now is dead. Rest in pieces, Schlock.

Quite appropriate that Shlock who very literally "did this to himself" is so utterly lacking in self-awareness to the bitter end.

Phew, Riff is ok, and simultaneously, wow. Schlock is gone. The last image of those glasses is intense.

Very much so. Down to the end, Schlock manages to believe that he's been "forced" into all his actions.

Nicely done, Pete. Love the panel layout and the poetic look of the last two panels -- powerful stuff for a powerful moment.

I'm practically forced to login every few years to react to a powerful strip. Panels 5-7 are some of the best climax panels I've ever seen from the entire history of the web comic. Massive amounts of Kudos to that one. Like said above, masterful bait and switch, and the absolute perfect ending to one of the best antagonists of the series.

Well I got what I wanted. Plot thread resolved, the status quo has been thoroughly blown to pieces.

Wow. I didn't see that coming at all. Even after all these years, you're still able to put a giant smile in my face, Pete. I don't know how you manage to get me every time.

As for Schlock... honestly, that was probably the best death he could have asked for. Quick, probably painless, he didn't see it coming so no fear... probably more than he deserved. Time to bow down to our new AI overlord!

I'm totally okay with this, but Riff only just reminded us how 4U Schlock needed to use an EMP to kill himself, thanks to Dr Crabtree's nanites... ( http://archives.sluggy.com/book.php?cha ... 2018-09-10 )
