Wednesday is not going to give you the antidote no matter how much you beg. So you can just lay there and...um. Wait. Did I remember to remember to poison the beer supply? Hmm, I can't remember... I forgot if I implemented the plan yet. Can you just forget what I just said? That would be grand. ---- Vote for Sluggy Freelance at Top Web Comics. Remember to vote every day.

Important: In all this time we haven't had a single Moonraker reference. Doesn't Pete think we are cultured enough?
Aside from the fact that they are on board a space base that threatens to destroy Earth, of course. Well, that ship that Bun-Bun hijacked, which was going to kill Torg and Riff and the others, had astronauts with jetpacks and guns. Maybe that is enough like Moonraker. But there should be Jaws as well. I seem to vaguely recall a Jaws reference, eons ago.
Poor Kiki. She never knows what is going on, but she knows when someone fell asleep and she is alone again. Like when Bun-Bun left her.
How could they leave Oasis when Dr. Montgomery was given the task of taking care of her space brain? That was really not wise.

Y'know that answers a question Kraide had (whether Oasis could still function as a normalish meatball without the satellite), apparently with a strong answer.

Oasis, with such an advanced brain, you are pretty stupid.

Perhaps asking someone you are holding at gunpoint to perform brain surgery on you may not have been the best plan. She is lucky there hasn't been more damage yet!

And the moral of the story (and possibly the whole 20+ years of the strip?) is ...
Don't invite the bad guys to do surgery on your brain and expect a good outcome.

Does that really mean that Oasis requires 24/7 brain uplink time to stay active? Can't be. Latency isn't low enough and she's been underground.
How does a machine have an off-button for a human brain then? Is there still a computer in her brain? Or is it spooooky fate magic? *wiggles fingers*

Oh this isn't good.... Kraide wrote: Y'know that answers a question Kraide had (whether Oasis could still function as a normalish meatball without the satellite), apparently with a strong answer. Every time you think that he's answered a question, other parts of the question then come into play that are still unanswered. This may belong in spec, but it is possible that losing contact with the satellite is akin to a radio running on a battery when power is lost from the electrical outlet. Whereas, an "off" switch is exactly that. Off.

I was worried as soon as Montgomery did not protest too much about fixing Oasis's brain...but Oasis still has a human half of her brain. I think that might be the part that was "waking up" so to speak. I don't think Oasis is out for the count yet!

Riff swoops in and reactivates Oasis Oasis: Did you just turn me on with my fiance right here? Riff: Is this just your thing now? Oasis: heck yea (Torg and Oasis high five)
And now we get to see just how much independence Oasis's organic brain has. Or if she has to download those annoying updates first.
