DO NOT CLICK ON ANY OF THE LINKS AT THIS TIME. It does strange things... Correction: Maybe it is working correctly, but the bandwidth usage for the site is going to shoot up tremendously if that is how it is supposed to work.

I've been trying to post this thing for awhile now. Maybe it will work this time... My gods, it finally worked.

Friday is proud to present the 20th edition in the Nifty and Insightful Tome With Informative Tales book series:
Spoiler: show

BONUS!

Since nobody tells Monday anything... It's shacking up with the 25th so as to bludgeon two parrots with one umbrella.

Hey all! Here's the belated reactions post to my 20th anniversary strip! Zil does these so much better than me. But here's to my nifty darn co-mic!

[Hope it's not a problem, but I merged your topic into mine since I didn't think we needed two topics for the 25th -Z]

Thanks Zil!!!! I'm bad enough at forum posting but trying to do it on my phone, it was tough! Whew! Heck off a week I say! That's my reaction to ME!

Yeah, doing it by phone is the best! I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Anyway, I'll get to some "reacting" then.

25th: That was not a Cliff Hanger of Unimaginable Proportions. That just felt like a standard cliffhanger to me.

28th: Odd. I hope that hole is only there since it's recent and hasn't closed or something yet. Otherwise it would pretty stupid that hC never found something that obvious.

I look forward to seeing where Sluggy will be going next.
I have posted the odd response on a phone as well and I know it isn't fun.

That hole would probably be new. Otherwise rain, snow and all manner of debris would have gotten into it. Not to mention that anyone, not just Hereti-corp, could have stumbled across it or fallen in.

My final soundtrack suggestion is for Sluggy's 20th (and today): Ramble On by Led Zeppelin.
Spoiler: show
I don't know if anyone actually was listening to my soundtrack suggestions, but if so thanks. I had fun picking these tracks and I hope you had fun too.

Hey lookit that! New site, new board theme...if I didn't know any better I'd say Sluggy Freelance is just getting started. Love the vertical parallax headers. Not sure what to think of the new archive layout yet, but it's fancy. I assume the real cliffhanger was locking everyone out of the forums for a weekend lol

I don't know what Chen and Torg are about to find down there, but I'm pretty confident it won't happen tomorrow :P

PS the smilies appear to to be broken :bunbun:

I hate this forum theme and layout. Hate it the more I use it. Used the subsilver2 (I think that's what it was called) on the old forum and everything was nicely defined, you could tell if someone replied to a post, and wasn't so glaringly bright. Also it allowed me to do something the helped greatly when dealing with spammers that the prosilver one did not.

But the main reason I was replying here was because something with the Archive was not thought out all that well. I have not found any way to actually to go to just a single strip. Yes, you go to the strip, but you download the entire chapter as well. So I did a test.

Clicked every single link in my NITWIT book series and ended up downloading 870 MB of data. That is an insane amount of data to just look at 20 strips.

25th: yay 20 years! I had forgotten that being a birthday, it would be animated. But not exactly as cliff-hangery as I had expected, but that's because we get another week! Yay :)

28th:
Sometimes we forget how much more we know than some of the characters. Torg doesn't know anything about the rebirth facility, though he might be able to guess from the name and context.

25th: Haha, what a mess! Everybody is fighting almost everybody and Kusari is not having a good day. And Riff, shoot Bun-Bun! He's been deserving it for 20 years.

28th: So now Chen claims to be on Torg's side again. For how long? We're having betrayals all around. They can have a contest: Who's the greater traitor?

Wow this quoting style is hard, almost as hard as :gwynn:

Yes, but that's the general trend in web design these days- overdo use of broadband as if nobody left on the planet is on dialup (despite there being a few communities in Africa still on one-week-latency-USB-stick-by-motorcycle-courier, just imagine THEM using the new format, a week's worth of comics would take a couple of GB), nodejs everything and pretend all your customers are running Chrome on Sparc stations.

In other news- I had to go through quite a journey to recover my password to the site, because Chrome's version of keykeeper is indexed by domain name AND YOU CHANGED THE FREAKIN' DOMAIN NAME!

This is a major problem for someone like me. I have only 5 gb per month on my cellular internet plan (I live in a remote location).

25th: Any shock value this comic would have had was kinda kicked to death by the animation. Bunbun in particular was fun to look at, but several days later it's practically all Kraide can remember from the comic.

28th: Haven't forgotten the things you've done, buddy.

Reactions to other stuff:
Want to pledge soon for the new Defenders 20+ program, but noticing some inconsistencies in how the levels are displayed.

This shot in particular shows a spot where at level 5 you get signed and doodled books and the "Secret Reward" and at level 6 extra signed and printed copies of the bookmark and Pawnz of the month.

This one, however shows (Level 5 chosen for display emphasis here only) shows "Future Books Signed" and "Signed and Doodled" as seperate rewards (one for level 5, and one for level 6) and shows the super secret reward at level 6 and nothing about extra copies of anything anywhere.

Didn't go through every pledge to look for potential discrepancies in those as well, but probably going to hold off on pledging until these are more uniform and clear to make an informed decision.

That is certainly a good-looking site.

It seems the RSS died on 25th though, unless he simply just haven't updated for 28th yet.

Love the way the new site looks.

One thing: in my forums profile it shows me as not being a defender when I have been for a few years now, because my defender account is linked to a different e-mail address. Will that affect anything I need to be aware of?
