Ah, the classics ....
Hmmm. I wonder if I can get Crusader: No Regret up and running on my system again ....

So all I can say is, gamers of the world unite! *salute*
This strip reminded me of the one where Riffs reflection was scolding him for not playing enough video games. I love that one. heee!

"X-com: UFO Defence" remains one of the greatest games in computer History.
And...Killum? Mayhem? Hm...

Remember when games would actually fit on floppies? I tried it and it works in XP Service Pack 2.
Unless you're running a wide-aspect display with non-standard resolution, like I am. I've tried, but the game simply will not run properly despite the patches on my laptop... and the one attempt on my desktop ended quickly when the AGP bus fried and I had to replace the motherboard. I can't prove those things are related, but I ain't taking any chances on it. :p

Just got to the office, fired up the ol' Sluggy-site, then preceded to laugh out loud causing strange looks from passing co-workers...
Funniest strip in a while, and I needed a laugh this morning.
Thank you Pete!

see, i just can't stop laughing because Pete names his X-Com soldiers after his characters in the strip. :)
Just think, Riff, Laser rifle. Torg, Stun lance. Oasis, two laser pistols. Zoe, Medic. Gwynn, Heavy weapons. Bert, Psi Trooper. Sasha Leader. Kiki, Grenadier.
It's almost perfect.
/thumbsup Pete!

I feel left out. I was playing computer games when most Sluggites were playing with rattles, but I've never even heard of X-Com. Luckily, I'm still geek enough to get the jokes. Love the Pvt Killum reference.

Haha. Better resolutions. Squares. Ouch, those puns almost hurt XD
I still maintain that Killum is a reference to Duke Nukem. I demand that Pete give me a response on the matter. uh... please? :P
Groovy animated strip!

I highly recommend X-com. It's old, but even so, the gameplay is still firstrate. I first played it in the late '90s, when it was already an old game. Of course, getting to run on today's machines might be a tad tricky.
