Friday really should of expected there would be a strip today... This screws up its 12 days of Sluggmas, since it didn't have the fifth day figured out yet. Oh well, it wasn't going that great anyway. ---- Vote for Sluggy Freelance at Top Web Comics. Remember to vote EACH day.

Do you want a Kessler Cascade? Because this is how you get a Kessler Cascade.

Heh. The Chinese for the explosion says "explosion".
Not "Boom" or "Bang" or any onomatopoeia for an exposion, just "explosion".

"It doesn't matter. Not anymore." Portentous words. In what situation would a war between the US and China not matter? ... spec..

A situation where the only remaining parts of Hereti-Corp. are in orbit and can't risk detection? Have you been reading lately? That said, in the event that they ever returned to Earth, a war between the U.S. and China would leave Crushestro, Inc. practically rolling in money and defense contracts.

Anybody know what the "PIK" in "magnetic PIK-rifles" means? I'm guessing this is some kind of railgun.

I just read it in a different way than you did, and that's ok.

But my best guess is that they named after the sound they make when they hit a target (their firering mechanism is likely close to silent). Also, no sounds in vacuum, but that's a common movie physics issue :-P

Shlock said "both mater-class shuttles are equipped ..."
So, HC has got... two-maters?
I clearly need to ketchup with curent HC lore.

Awfully bold words from Schlock.
Also, we're approaching Christmas and Schlock promised Frog a big surprise a couple of years back. I can't find the strip, but we're either very close to a payoff (it's December 16 as I type this) or it's going to be a loooong Christmas Eve in Sluggy time.

Now I want my own pik-rifle. Could be useful for scaring off coyotes, or ringing in the new year.
Although Newton's 3rd law would have sent York flying off into space. Just sayin'.
Edited to add: Damn. He has retro rockets. So screw you, Newton!
