Also, I wanted to take a moment to thank our dedicated moderators, without whom these forums wouldn't be the madhouse we know and love. Three cheers for Caesar Salad, Jade Phoenix, Dom/SlimKop, dotwarner, drummer_dude, FearTheMullet, Kullervo, and Wile E!

*ahem* I would like to say that while this is the first and only internet forum I am a part of, it seems that this forum is one of the most friendly, respectful and non-flamey areas of the world wide web. For that, I thank and congratulate not only Thyla and our dedicated and thoughtful moderators, but also the people who participate in the forums, the community members. This forum is a place where opinions are respected for their merits, and personal attacks rarely happen.

So charge your glasses, all (no, not with explosives, you lot in the corner) and drink a toast to our wonderful forum.

I remember well the first day my sister introduced me to Sluggy. It wasn't long ago, it must've been only a year, or two ago. I devoured the entire archive, in a time period that was too short to be healthy. But It was damn worth it!

I can't think of anything better to say other than: I would not be the same person I am today without Sluggy.net.

Note that I didn't say if I was better or worse for it.

Honestly, though. I love this place. That's the main reason I've stuck with my job a moderator through rough spots and lack of time. It's not the fame or recognition or respect (I say that like there actually is any)...it's seeing the community grow that I love. The friendships, the interaction...I love that about this place.

We are one of the nicest, most welcoming forums I've ever been part of. This is the most nifty place on the web, hands down, and I'm glad to still be a part of it.

out of curiosity... how many active poster have been here since the beginning?

Also, I wonder how many of us remain from the first year.

I've been a part of several forums, and my attendence there comes and goes, but I always come back to Sluggy. Great times here, great people here, just a great place to be online.

And, indeed, many more years to come!
