While waiting, Felix turns to Vanire.

"How are you planning on working this situation? Play it out like you were never here and the mercenaries just vanished, or maybe take advantage of the chaos to declare that a group of Knights just happened to be visiting and defended the castle valiantly from the dreadful impostors then spinning the news in a way that makes it harder for the Primate to make a move?"

Vanire nods. "That would be very helpful, thank you. I was thinking of taking Count Radun's signet ring - with permission, of course -"

Count Radun nods. "Granted."

Vanire continues. "Thank you. Delivering the signet ring to the Primate. Letting him present his case, claim in front of all the Kings of Eosia that we beheaded the Count and committed unspeakable atrocities. Then, in our defense, I'll ask Count Radun to please explain to the gathered monarchs how he managed to reattach his head. Once the Primate's story collapses around him, he'll lose a lot of credibility, and will be unable to pull off a similar trick again."

"I imagine that would work pretty well," Felix says. "What are the odds of Martel noticing what's happening and trying to kill Count Radun a second time, or the Primate having a backup plan in place to ensure the Count dies?"

"I'd like to take Count Radun and his family back to the Chapterhouse in those carts of yours," says Vanire. "No plan of Martel's could account for your speed - even if he intends to have the Count killed - and that would be out of character for him, he's more likely to abandon a plan which has received this level of setback and attack later, unexpectedly, at a weak point - then any such plans would assume that the Count either continues to reside here, or travels no more rapidly than a fast horse. Similarly for any backup plans the Primate might have. We'll need to bring them into the Chapterhouse without them being recognised, but that should be simple enough - heavy cloaks will likely suffice. And even if either attempt some action against the Count in the forthcoming weeks, the Pandion Chapterhouse is probably the safest place for them on the entire Eosian continent."

Piper dozes off on Sir Ulath's lap, looking terribly bored.

"Bringing them back with us, we can help with that yeah," Felix says. "We'd have to leave some of the Knights we brought behind to make room for them in the vehicles, but I figure riding back shouldn't be too much trouble?"

Felix is satisfied with this plan and is ready to head back to Cimmura to drop off Count Radun's family, pick up the Colony Deed, and head back to the ship.

"Alright, gentlemen. Let's put our words to action, shall we?"

--------------

With an entire platoon of Knights to do the heavy lifting, clearing the road is fairly quick. (Felix's idea to build a small crane to help in the clearing doesn't get much beyond a quickly-sketched blueprint) Vanire, the Count, his family, and a few Knights are packed into the carts (along with all the cushions they can put together) and the Terrans drive back towards Cimmura. It turns out that the Count himself is very susceptible to motion sickness, but his youngest daughter is delighted by the speed of travel. (This may be partially because Piper, strapped in next to her, is visibly eager even before the journey begins).

There's a brief bit of trouble with a flat tyre on the way (the Terrans replace it with the spare, but will need to go back to the ship to repair the punctured tyre properly) but, aside from that, the journey to Cimmura passes without incident. Eventually, the group comes to a stop in the Pandion chapterhouse (having gone through the same entry ceremony as before) with the Count and his family wrapped in heavy cloaks so that no-one watching from the nearby city can tell who they are.

It's not hard to get the Deed, but Felix experiences a moment of second thoughts. The Chapterhouse is only a brief walk from the city of Cimmura, where the Crime Lord makes his home. If they're going to take this opportunity to speak with him - and his no doubt vast number of pickpockets, muggers and other criminals, then it might be best not to be carrying anything valuable in his pockets at the time.

Assuaging his second thoughts with the firm conviction that he's going to leave the deed somewhere safe before tracking down the Crime Lord, Felix asks for it back and obtains it with no further trouble.

After making sure it's still safe, Felix puts it back with the Pandion's.

"Alright, since we'll need to install lots of countermeasures for whatever might come along that mundane weaponry can't counter, it'd probably better to leave the deed here for the time being."

Felix turns to Vanire.

"Do you mind waiting a little bit before sending out Berit? I'd like to talk to the criminals of this city to try and obtain some leads and maybe speak to the Earl of Lenda, since we didn't get a chance to last time. Then we can take him back with us and get him that driver, eh?"

After that, Felix will prepare to head into the city.

"Not in the least," says Vanire. "A couple of hours won't make much difference. Would you like one of the Knights to accompany you in the city?"

Arkady comments "We've been seen with Sir Ulath. Being seen with a Pandion as well might set people to thinking, unless you are usually escorting guests into the city."

"Someone who can keep a low profile, maybe?" Felix asks. "Oh, and can you provide a list of poisons both common and rare? I've got an idea."

Felix explains his plan of posing as scholars looking for a list of poisons to see if they couldn't make medicines out of them. This will no doubt be helped by the fact that poisons very well can be used as medicine, sometimes, and having them on hand would be beneficial in the long run. Darestim will, of course, be on the list of poisons they want to buy.

"Young Berit has nothing else to do until you get back, and he's new enough that there's no fame attached to his face. If he wears a cloak over his mail, no-one will have any idea who he is." Vanire nods. "I don't know much about poisons, but I can certainly give you a list of all the poisons I have heard of."

"Alright, then," Felix says. "Let's see if we can't get our hands on some Darestim."

Once everyone is gathered and ready to go, Felix will roll Engineering to rig up some anti thievery measures to protect the group from pickpockets.
