"You're familiar with Directive Six?" Frank asks rhetorically. The Precepts are taught to all who grow up with Cortex; directive six is the simplest of them.

"Right! That one's easy," Dita responds, apparently having little to no concept of rhetorical. "Directive Six shepherds the masses, protecting them from themselves and others."

Frank and Father both take a moment to collect themselves after the rhetorical question is answered, then Frank continues. "Right. We've got a team that does just that, Dita. How would you like to join?"

"Of course!" Dita nods emphatically, "I'm ready to go out and be of help. I'm tired of being cloistered here. I want to see the world and be useful."

"How about it, Pete?" asks Frank. "You trust your little girl with me?"

Father frowns, and muses. Finally, he shakes his head. "I'll never hear the end of it if I say no - from either of you. Alright Frank, you win. I'll send Dita out with the next transport."

"Good man," says Frank.

The next day, Dita is packed and boards the transport to leave the Centre for the first time in her life. She's off to join Directive Six.
