Coach Rock gathers the sidekicks together in the gym. It isn't long before another teacher shows up: a tall, gangy middle-aged man with the tight-packed curls often called a "Jewfro". He grins at the sidekicks, genuinely pleased to see so many of them.

"Welcome to Sky High! I'm your Hero Support teacher, Mr. Powers. We're going to have lots of fun this year, shaping your abilities and giving you an education to ensure your success even if you're not Heroes." Mr. Powers's voice sounds like it still hasn't cracked, with a strange screechy quality to it. "If you'll all come with me, I'll show you around and help get you settled. Then we can start the learning!"

Will goes to shake the teacher's hand, a matching smile on his face.

"Will Diamond - it's nice to meet you, sir. Please, lead the way."

Adam is sitting on the ground with his back against the wall, not paying the least bit of attention to anything going on around him. He appears to be annoyed.

Arthur walks over to where Adam is sitting.

"You OK?" Arthur asks. "It's not always a bad thing to start off as a sidekick, ya know. Fortress got pegged as a sidekick when he started."

He offers a hand to help Adam stand up, "Come on, we should probably tag along with Mr. Powers to see what's going on."

"Hmm? Oh..."

Adam grabs Arthur's hand and hauls himself up off the ground. Arthur may have some difficulty with this since Adam is built like a brick wall.

"Yeah, I'm fine I guess. This isn't the worst thing that happened to me in the past year."

(OOC: Heh, yeah, Arthur's only about 5'6" and a little over a hundred pounds. (~1.6m and 50Kg for non-US))

Arthur struggles to plant his feet as Adam gets up.

"Oh?" he asks, "Bit of a late bloomer, power-wise anyway?" Arthur looks up at Adam, once he's standing, making it obvious he doesn't think Adam acquired his size just this year.

"What, this?"

Adam gestures down to himself.

"No, I was a running back in high school. I worked hard for this."

"No, I was asking if you just got your power recently," Arthur says. "That's cool though, being a running back, you must be pretty unstoppable then. Myself, I never did well in sports, kind hard to play when your opponent can take you out by disabling themselves."

"My power came in this summer. Which sucks, because I was going to be a senior this year and everyone was expecting me to take them to state. And now I'm here."

Adam sighs miserably, waving his hand in the air in mock enthusiasm.

Kate steps a little closer, having overheard the exchange. Her arms are folded across her chest, and she's giving a half-smile.

"You seem about as enthused as I am to be here. Sorry you had to leave your last school; such a shame." Kate frowns a bit to punctuate her statement.

Arthur nods in sympathy, not really sure how to respond to Adam's predicament.

He raises an eyebrow at Kate's statement however, as her apparent enthusiasm had him thinking she wanted to be here, but he doesn't say anything.

Alex, in the meantime, has begun to feel bored, and so has begun to scrounge for spare parts in order to make something. Old habits die hard after all.

"Geez, that really sucks. Mine came in when I was a kid, so I always knew I was coming here, in chains if need be. But hey, it could have been worse..."

He gives a little smirk.

"You could have ended up in hero class."

"Thanks for the support, everyone. I'll get over it eventually."

Adam sighs once again and follows after Mr. Powers.

Arthur follows along behind Adam, but he leans over to ask Will, "Is there really a difference? I mean, I'm sure they probably cover the actual fighting part of crime fighting more, but shouldn't the academics be pretty much the same?"

"Not absolutely sure... I've heard a bunch of different things, and I wouldn't consider my sources totally reliable. However, even ignoring the fact that there aren't enough hours in a school day to give us the same academic curriculum and give them extra heroing classes, it's the fact that we're being taught around different lines. We're being taught to help people, they're being taught to hurt people."
