I've been having trouble reading pages this evening (so far from about 9 pm PDT to now, almost 1 am PDT). They take forever to load and sometimes don't (server stopped responding), and then pop up suddenly and slow down five minutes later.

So I'm not the only one encountering this problem?

No, I've been having it too.
Moreover, some fiddling around with "ping" and the -t option has told me that I can communicate all the way up the chain to the computer one step before the sluggy.net server with no problems; but the sluggy.net server itself, in it's slowest times, is giving over 90% packet loss.
It seems rather erratic, though - after a slow period it'll suddenly pick up to close on 100% going through, again. I'd assumed it was server load, but it might not be.
I've been noticing this for a few days, at odd moments, but it usually seems to clear up given enough time. (Often about half an hour).

I did have that problem this morning (6am BST) but it seems ok now (5pm BST) probably a router problem somewhere.

Ditto on the problems. I had thought it was a problem on my end because another page wasn't loading. But this other page also would let me log in because I wasn't logged in. So who knows what that means.

I had problems with this the last couple days, too, but as of 3:12 pm central time, it seems to be ok.

On the problems-with-the-board note, sometimes the boards will mark everything read when I haven't touched a thing. I'll just get on, and nothing has any new posts (even though there have been posts since I last got on). Is this a known problem? Does this happen to anybody else?

Same problem with the page loading and with the boards marking everything read when I haven't touched a thing.

I've been having the same problem with everything being marked read since I got my new computer last month. I thought maybe there was a setting I didn't know about that I needed to change because I don't have that problem on another MB.
I didn't have any other problems until last night when I kept getting errors like "domain can't be found" or "connection refused" when I had just been on the site a minute before.
And I am also having the problem of not being able to see the newest comic, it doesn't matter if I click on the direct link or today's date on the calendar. I was on Netscape so I tried IE and I was able to see it at first but subsequent attempts to either www.sluggy or //sluggy.com also show the comic for 4/10. I have cleared cookies and cache a couple times. The only way I can see it is to click on the Week button.

I noticed these problems started about 2-3 weeks ago, for me. Well, the mark-as-read problem has been going on for a long time, but it doesn't pop up as much.
