Seriously, has anyone thought of adding a system of stars to denote the age of a member?

One star for, oh, say every 6 monts. It's not something linked to post counts, so it won't induce spamming.

You're not better than me because you've been on the forums longer. What does it matter?

Am I going to have to start lording my Mailing List, pre-Thyla status over people? :P

I can't really see the point. If we really need to know how long you've been around, we can always look at your join date. It would just impose a degree of hierarchy that I don't think we really need or want. We can judge for ourselves whether someone is nifty based on their posts, without needing markers based on how long someone's been here.

Mainly I was thinking of the humerious "Lords of Sluggy" thread in general we had a while ago. Where we debated about the various names given to the Sluggites her in terms of how old they are. I saw a 'Stars' system on another forum, and thought it nifty. Though in practice it seems to do exactly what you mentioned Axel.

It seems fun, but really not practicle.

I personally like the lack of denotation for posts, age, whatever that we have here. Whenever I go to another forum and find someone with a signigicant-looking title, a buncha stars and 4859373458 posts, with a bunch of usergroup banners under their (Rather large) avatar, I get intimidated-ish. Here, we don't need to worry about that.

Then a person who joined once years ago and posted spam twice will have more stars than someone who joined a year ago who's an active poster and generally nice guy/gal.

It's just clutter. We avoid clutter. Clutter is a bad thing.

Hey, I remember when you weren't a mod. You were as bad as any of us!

Plus I can edit your posts now, too. And now my eye is on both of you.

I can be sneaky, too! I've been sneaky here more than you'll ever know. The sneakiness that you know about me? You only know it because I let you know it.

*Ahem*

So yeah, no stars.

Bah, they're not shiny anyways. What's the point of having stars if they ain't shiny?
