I bet most of you guys have noticed how some threads are acting wonky, adding an extra page or two even when there aren't enough posts. Anyone have an idea why?

From what I've been able to find in my research, it's probably a database issue (I guess that's obvious), possibly caused by deleting posts and then the database getting confused about how long the thread is. Or reassigning a user id.
This topic on the subject looks applicable - one of the few where it was successfully resolved.

I've been experiencing it too, sometimes it won't even let me see pages of topics that I know are there.

It has been getting a little annoying; posting and being told there's no such page, hitting `last post' and being told there's no such page, clicking on the page before last and then discovering that there really is another page...

And I'm a little worried that my underwear thread will be locked after nine pages instead of ten, because there's consistantly been one less page than is displayed. I'm really proud of having started such a popular topic, and I (selfishly, perhaps) don't want to see it locked early.

I know what threads are doing it. Unfortunetly, I can't do anything about it. Rest assured, the extra pages one be counted in the locking of threads.
