i thought it was so that people wouldnt try to beat personal high scores, besides you could count the posts and change the names without actually saying how many posts they have.

The titles could be changed regularly to keep it random. That would be so much fun. Ah, but why do you think post counts were eliminated in the first place? So people wouldn't post just to get/change said titles.
but that would be the point of the randomness. There would be nothing to endevor for. The rankings of the titles would change periodiclly.

I worked hard to become a Beta Tester of DOOM, darnit!
Yeah, had I known my Cheezy Fetish of DOOM title wouldn't stick around, I'd have gone with the Defenders of the Nifty offer for winning Sluggy.net Survivor II!
On that note, if I ever find the time, I'd love to run Sluggy.net Survivor III.... We missed it last year, but maybe this fall....

Hey hey! Since we have a new bored, and the Mods (Oh Prasie be to the Mods from which all good things flow) are working on installing new stuff, I don't suppose theres a chance that Titles can be put back into the Forum?

Titles for who? Moderators and thier friends, or for everyone?
Not that it matters much. People put enough long stupid things in their location, let alone what they'd do to their titles.

You've got a point.
Personally, I'm happy with the four titles I've earned in real life.
She Of The Way Too Many Names, She Who Does Not Lick Gum, Fiend Of Vile Falsehoods, and She Of The Pointy Tortilla Chips, in the order of oldest to most recent.

Ah, verloren, titles here in Sluggy.net ( praise Thyla from whom all things flow), aren't just enabled, they're assigned.
X-roads, Moist Happy of Doom!
Wile E, Double Ds of Doom!
To mention a couple. Titles were granted as prizes (like in the avatar fu contest) or when a typo made the mods laugh really, really hard.
Its a dubious honer at best. But much fun is to be had by everyone else.

I dunno, those two sample titles make me a bit nervous. I mean, how am I going to explain to my wife that *I'm* the one with the Double Ds of Doom?

Every title is unique to the person who receives it. Mostly all Admins had titles and most Mods did as well. But the thing is you never, ever; get to choose what your title is. It is usually always something embarrassing and will be a joke for a long time to come.
